Thailand is renowned for its skilled automotive replica shops, often producing convincing supercar replicas from unconventional donor vehicles. The latest creation making waves is a wide-bodied Lamborghini Aventador replica, which originated from a four-door Toyota from the late 1980s. This unique build showcases the craftsmanship of Kit Racing body shop in collaboration with Ruammit Autopart.
From Sedan to Supercar
The base vehicle for this remarkable transformation is a fourth-generation Toyota Crown sedan, dating back to 1987. Stripped of its original bodywork and upper chassis, the car was meticulously reworked to accommodate a mid-engined layout, closely matching the dimensions of the Lamborghini Aventador. The Toyota Crown’s wheelbase of 2,730 mm closely resembles the Aventador’s 2,700 mm wheelbase, making it a fitting choice for this ambitious project.
Innovative Customizations
To create the structural foundation for the replica, a bespoke wedge-shaped steel frame was fabricated, replacing the original monocoque chassis of the Toyota Crown. While rigidity and lightness were not paramount in this replica endeavor, the transformation still required extensive customizations. The mid-mounted powertrain, derived from a turbocharged version of the Mitsubishi 2.5-liter V6 (6A13) engine, has an unknown output. Additional components, such as the radiator from an Isuzu pickup, were incorporated into the build. Suspension elements from a Toyota Hilux and a Honda Accord, rear brakes from a BMW 7-Series, door mechanisms from a Nissan NX, and wipers from an unidentified Chevy pickup were integrated to bring the project to life.
Impressive Replication
The replica’s proportions and bodywork are impressively accurate, closely mirroring the low and wide stance of the original Lamborghini Aventador. The bolt-on wide fender extensions evoke the style of Liberty Walk’s aftermarket kits, while design cues such as the nose intakes and rear wing draw inspiration from the Aventador SVJ. The vehicle features additional details such as a faux scoop on the bonnet, a prominent splitter with integrated fins, and matching side skirts.
Ongoing Project and Prospects
While the replica is still a work in progress and requires final touches including windows and interior refinements, the Thai shop’s dedication to detail and design is evident. Custom lighting units were utilized due to the cost-prohibitive nature of genuine parts. The Kit Racing body shop’s Facebook page provides a glimpse into the ongoing developments of this remarkable project. The Lamborghini Aventador replica serves as a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of automotive enthusiasts, turning an unconventional donor vehicle into a head-turning homage to a high-performance supercar.
