A Nimble and Affordable Option
In the competitive 150cc category of motorcycles in the Philippines, the 2018 Kawasaki Rouser NS160 motorcycle has emerged as an appealing choice. With a price tag of 85,000 piso (RM6,340), this bike offers riders an attractive package that combines affordability and performance. The Kawasaki Rouser NS160 might seem familiar to some, as it’s based on the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, a model that Malaysia gets in the form of the Modenas Pulsar NS200.
Sharing the same frame as its 200cc sibling, the Rouser NS160 is powered by a twin-spark, SOHC, air. And oil-cooled, four-valve, single-cylinder engine with a displacement of 160.3cc. It delivers a claimed power of 15.2 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 14.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This engine configuration provides a good balance of performance for daily commuting and city riding.
In comparison, the NS200, available in the Philippines as the Rouser in NS and RS variants, features a 199.5cc liquid-cooled engine with higher output figures: 24.13 horsepower at 9,750 rpm and 18.24 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. The NS160 employs a five-speed gearbox and chain final drive, while the NS200 uses a six-speed transmission. The larger NS200 also comes equipped with front. Rear disc brakes, while the NS160 has a front hydraulic disc and a rear drum brake.
The Rouser NS160’s suspension consists of telescopic forks in the front and a mono-shock in the rear. Its lightweight and nimble nature, combined with its compact dimensions, make it well-suited for urban maneuverability.

While the Rouser NS160 remains a popular choice in the Philippines. The Modenas Pulsar NS200 and RS200 cater to the Malaysian market with their larger engine capacities and enhanced features. The Modenas Pulsar NS200 is priced at RM9,222, while the RS200 is available for RM11,342.
