Carpet stains can be an actual pain to get out of. The good news is that if you tackle them quickly by using items generally found around your house and following the steps below, you should be able to remove even the most persistent stains from your carpet. Here are some removal advice from your trusted local carpet cleaning company to help you get rid of five stains you may not even understand can come out of your carpet.
Paint
First, choose your paint, as the removal procedure will vary by component. There are oil and water-based paints.
- Oil Paint Stain Removal
- If the paint is moist: Use a hand or pin to break up the stain without harming the fibers.
- If the paint is dry: Use a steamer to soften the color and proceed with the abovementioned step.
- Water-based Paint Stain Removal
- If the paint is wet: Blot the stain with a damp towel. If you use a scrubbing motion, it will push the color further down into the carpet.
- If the paint is dry: Mix one cup of hot water and one tablespoon of mild dish detergent.
Wax
- Use a butter blade to grind up any loose wax. Vacuum the wax scraps you’re able to loosen up.
- Get a wet cotton towel, fold it in half, and place it on the stain. Use an iron set high on the towel for at least 10 seconds. Repeat until the wax is gone. If the towel parches up before that, dampen it.
- Spray carpet cleaner on the stain. Use a scoop to scrub it into the carpet.
- Let the carpet air-dry.
Blood
- Using a soft brush to remove loose stains if the stain has dried.
- Mix one tablespoon of scent-free liquid, hand dishwashing detergent, and two cups of cold water.
- Wet a clean white cloth with the key and blot. Repeat until all the blood is soaked.
- Dampen a sponge with cold water and press it into the spot.
- Blot dry with a clean towel.
Soda
- Get a clean blot and towel up as much soda as possible.
- Mix two cups of warm water, one tablespoon of unscented liquid hand dishwashing detergent, and one tablespoon of white vinegar.
- With a new clean white towel or cloth, wet it with the solution, apply a little at a time, and blot away. Repeat until the stain disappears.
Urine
- Blot the excess moisture with a paper towel if the stain is still wet.
- Create a solution of ¼ teaspoon liquid dishwashing detergent and one cup of warm water.
- Spray the solution directly on the paint.
- Use a clean cotton towel or paper towel to blot away the keys.
- Rinse the spot with warm water; if the color remains, repeat steps 1-5.
