More than 25 years after his up-close and personal encounter with a piece of warm apple pie, Jason Biggs continues to take moviegoers by storm. He’s starred in three American Pie sequels and a host of other teen and bro comedies. He also starred in the early seasons of Orange Is the New Black as Larry, the fiance of Piper Chapman. If you’re ever arguing with a friend over what his best movies are, use this list to settle the score.1. American Pie 2: The Wedding DazeAmerican Pie 2 picks up a year after the first film and finds our heroes back in their Michigan hometown for what they hope will be a wild summer. Jim (Jason Biggs) is still an awkward virgin, while Stifler (Seann William Scott) discovers that the hickey-on-a-flipper thing really works. Oz (Chris Klein) is devoted to his girlfriend, Heather (Mena Suvari), who’s off in Europe. Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) is a total brainiac who can’t use school restrooms. The sequel delivers a nice helping of sex gags and crass humor to offset the often very real dynamic between the guys. It also boasts a good amount of the kind of out-there taboo pushing that made the original such an audacious R-rated comedy. Eugene Levy is still a delight as Jim’s dad, and Jennifer Coolidge is surprisingly hot as Michelle. John Cho is also a welcome addition to the cast, continuing his rise from his role in American Pie to roles in the Harold and Kumar films, FlashForward, Columbus and the Star Trek reboots.2. American Pie 3: The Wedding DazeTaking on the role of Jim Levenstein in American Pie was a huge leap for Biggs who had never before headlined a major repelisplus film. But he made the most of his debut role and proved to be a very likable actor. He continued to deliver some very funny movies like Loser, Jersey Girl, and Wedding Daze. This American Pie sequel tries too hard to up the gross-out ante from its forerunners and falls flat on many occasions. Its attempts to re-bottle Isla Fisher’s kooky Crashers schtick also come off as half-baked.Despite this, it does have its moments of comic genius and Jason Biggs and Isla Fisher form a very likable fresh pair. The movie works best when it focuses on the two characters and their antics. It also boasts a solid supporting cast including Eugene Levy and Joanna Gleeson. Overall, this is a fun comedy that should be watched once or twice.3. American Pie 4: The Wedding DazeOne of the weaker entries in the American Pie series. Writer-director Michael Ian Black tries to make this a rom-com but it doesn’t really work, Jason Biggs is too synonymous with his character Jim Levenstein from the previous films and he doesn’t seem to have enough chemistry with ex ‘Home & Away’ star Isla Fisher.Instead the focus is more on the comedy and this is much better, it’s still got some raunchy jokes (and one very dirty scene with a cat) but they don’t seem to be as over the top as in the previous films. It also avoids sex jokes that get a little tiresome after a while, although some like the one with Joe Pantoliano and his cock ring do end up making you roll your eyes. It’s a funny enough film but not one of the best in the series.4. American Pie 5: The Wedding DazeActor Jason Biggs became a star after his portrayal of Jim Levenstein in the 1999 film American Pie. However, he also has an impressive collection of movies under his belt.Almost a decade after his clumsy character’s high school misadventures, Biggs returns to the screen for this fourth installment of the popular American Pie franchise. The movie follows Jim and his friends Oz, Kevin, Finch, and Stifler as they navigate adulthood.Despite its flimsy concept and numerous poor ideas, Wedding Daze is somewhat enjoyable thanks to its spirited performances from the cast. Biggs and Isla Fisher form quite a likable fresh pair that works well together. Joanna Gleeson is particularly hilarious in her jail scene. This movie is a must-see for Biggs fans. It’s also a good choice for a rainy day or a date movie.5. American Pie 6: The Wedding DazeThe last film in the American Pie franchise is a bit of a stinker, but it’s still good enough for a night of one-viewing. If you’re willing to accept a low joke success rate and can tolerate the occasional gross-out, then this is definitely worth your time.Although Biggs has starred in quite a few movies since his debut in 1991’s Drexell’s Class, the majority of his work seems to be in slapstick comedy. Even though he isn’t the most gifted actor, he can hold his own in these types of roles.Biggs and Isla Fisher make for a likable fresh pair and the supporting cast is pretty funny as well. The only downside is that the movie tends to focus more on the comedy aspect rather than romance. The DVD is presented in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 with a 1:85:1 aspect ratio. The image quality is crisp and clear with vibrant colors.
