Titanic Tragedy: OceanGate Suspends Operations and Deletes Social Media Accounts
Important changes have taken place at OceanGate, a company specializing in deep-sea expeditions. It all started in June 2023 when the Titan bathyscaphe floating in the waters of the Atlantic disappeared from radar. This sad event was due to the desire of five explorers to see the famous Titanic, which had suffered a century earlier.
A few days after Titan stopped being radioed, insurers confirmed the worst fears – the bathyscaphe had wrecked. Pro-gadgets Titan’s wreckage was found in the area where Titanic sank, at a depth of about 500 meters from the site of the tragedy. Details of what happened can be found in a special material prepared by our editorial staff.
After this disaster, OceanGate faced a difficult decision about its future. An investigation was launched to find out the causes of the disaster and to prevent similar incidents in the future. Although the official results of the investigation have not yet been released, OceanGate’s website has only posted one message, “OceanGate Expeditions is temporarily suspending all exploration and commercial operations.”
In addition, the company has decided to delete all of its social media accounts. This strategic decision affected not only the social networks banned in Russia, but also LinkedIn and even accounts associated with famous entrepreneur Ilon Musk.
Thus, OceanGate is facing serious challenges as a result of the loss of the Titan bathyscaphe. Hopefully, the investigation will help identify the causes of this tragedy and ensure the safety of future underwater expeditions. For now, however, the company has temporarily halted its operations and is taking steps to preserve its reputation and review its social media strategy.
